About this training
How we interact and communicate with others is essential in determining how healthy our relationships are, at work and in life. We are not all born and raised as effective communicators; however, it is a skill that we can developed and nurture over time. When confronted with sensitive situations such as delivering a difficult message, handling a complaint or building a relationship with a new colleague or client, many of us find that we lack the key interpersonal skills required to achieve our desired outcome. The ability to build rapport and trust, to influence decision-making, to present ideas with clarity and professionalism and to be able to handle challenging situations is invaluable. Interpersonal effectiveness is often referred to as ‘people skills’ because those that are good at it are able to relate well to other people, and often do well in their careers because of this. Someone’s ability to be able to ‘fit in’ with a team is often just as important as their ability to do the job.
In this training, you will look into the communication strategies that best reflect your own personal style and you will discover the skills required to start a conversation, move a conversation forward, and raise the conversation to higher levels.

- Compare different levels of presence, to determine the appropriate level of presence for you and how to improve
- Build nurturing relationships and set the stage for positive interactions
- Assemble all the dimensions of good interpersonal communication and apply these skills in difficult conversations
- Assess your openness and create a plan to become more open in your interactions with others, if necessary
